Android 15 enhances the Android Dynamic Performance Framework (ADPF) with power-saving modes and thermal management features. It will also boost developer productivity by introducing OpenJDK APIs and quality-of-life enhancements to assure compatibility with over a billion Android 12+ devices.

The next developer preview will be available in March.

Technical Improvements in Android 15

However, Android 15 isn’t only about privacy and speed improvements. It also adds support for the partial screen recording functionality, which was a highlight of one of Android 14’s beta versions, and allows users to record particular program content rather than the full screen. Additionally, enhancements to the camera experience within third-party applications are planned, in line with Samsung’s recent work.

  • File Integrity: Android 15 adds File Integrity Manager, which has better security capabilities that use fs-verity to prevent unauthorized file alterations or malware assaults.
