The Aam Aadmi Party’s Kuldeep Kumar has been proclaimed the victor of the Chandigarh mayoralty by the Supreme Court. The Aam Aadmi Party and Congress petitioned the Supreme Court, which on Tuesday made a significant ruling.

What Was The Actual Matter?

Returning Officer Anil Masih received a severe censure from the Supreme Court at a hearing on Tuesday, February 20. According to the Supreme Court, there has been contempt of court in this instance. The court’s position on this election has completely altered. The eight erroneous ballots will all be deemed legitimate, the court said. The votes will then be counted once more after this.

What Did The Supreme Court Do?

Supreme Court Chief Justice DY Chandrachud led a panel that looked into the disagreement between the Aam Aadmi Party and the BJP over the “invalidation” of eight votes. The court then declared that they would be counted once more. These erroneous votes will all be regarded as legitimate. Only based on this will the findings be made public.

Result Declared by Supreme Court! Aam Aadmi Party’s Kuldeep Kumar will be the Mayor of Chandigarh

The coalition between the Aam Aadmi Party and the Congress will emerge victorious in the contest for Mayor following the recount of these ballots. These votes were all turned down without providing any justification. The BJP declared victory in the January mayor elections of last month following the rejection of these eight ballots. Anil Masih was fired by the Bharatiya Janata Party last week from his position as Minority Cell head.

What did the Chief Justice say?

Supreme Court Chief Justice DY Chandrachud said,

“It is clear from the result sheet that the petitioner got 12 votes. Eight votes were declared invalid. This was done wrongly. “Every single one of the illegal votes was cast legitimately in favor of the petitioner. Our opinion is that it would not be right to completely isolate the electoral process. Whereas the only weakness was found at the stage when the presiding officer counted the votes. “To set aside the entire process (related to the mayor election) would be to increase the damage to basic democratic principles.”

Proof Against Anil Masih

According to Supreme Court Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, the top court will order a recount of the votes cast in the mayor’s race last month. All eight of the ballots that Returning Officer Anil Masih ruled to be “invalid” were videotaped. The Aam Aadmi Party is the recipient of all of these votes.
